William
William is my fifth Irish Setter and a little different from the others. He comes from the UK Kennel, Thendara. Having watched the Thendara dogs from afar and at Crufts I was in awe and knew I eventually wanted one of my very own. My Henry has Thendara in his lineage and I just love the elegance he pervades.
When I first spoke to Thendara about the possibility of having a Thendara puppy I was not sure that I would be considered but I put my name on the list. When I got the call offering me a Thendara boy it was a dream come true, my very own little English expat coming to Switzerland.
William's Grandfather, Nucky of McBirdy, is also George's Father, so it made absolute sense as he is also related in at least one connection to our original pack of Spirit of Indian Summers.
After a wait to bring him to Switzerland due to the rabies vaccination rules, William finally joined us just before Christmas in December 2023, after I headed to the UK to collect him.
William is a superstar with a huge yet mischievous personality, everything I would expect of an Irish Setter of his age. William has a certain style and flair in the way he does things and he's so eager to please, just sometimes on his own terms. He brings a smile to my face every single day with one William antic or another. He has formed a very special bond with Henry and it's beautiful to see them interacting.
Every day William pushes the boundaries in one way or another and I absolutely love him for it. He is the only member of our gang that can open doors and the stair gate is no match for him!
We have started our journey in the show ring and William is learning his craft with ease. He's been to a few shows already where he has won some Junior CACIBs, Junior CACs, a couple of Best Junior of Breed, and the highlight is him finishing his Swiss Junior Champion already. Willian and I are off to a flying start and I can't wait to see what the future holds for us.
