Henry

Henry is my fourth Irish Setter from the Spirit of Indian Summer Kennel.  I approached Beatrice following my success with George as we wanted to add another red head but also one that I could hit the show circuit with.  When Beatrice said she would be breeding the H-Litter and told me that the Sire would be Charming Vagabonds Blind Date I was extremely excited.

 

The Covid pandemic hit and due to the restrictions crossing international borders the H-Litter was delayed, but true to her word, Beatrice went on to breed the H-Litter and Henry was born in February 2021.

Henry joined George and I on the show circuit and we've never looked back!  We worked hard at training, sometimes with mutual frustrations however Henry, at only three and a half years old, has achieved so much at show.  He has proven himself time and time again and surpassed my wildest expectations. The highlights include winning Best in Show at the Setter & Pointer Club Switzerland Club Show in 2023, gaining his International Champion title, showing at Crufts in 2022 and just this year, 2024, gaining his Swiss Grand Champion title.

At home Henry is a wonderful dog, he's very special.  He has a gentleness that defies his size and is always kind and thoughtful towards the rest of the pack.  Every morning Henry greets me with a nuzzle and always brings me one of his toys as a present.

 

When I look into his eyes I see his soul.   Henry loves nothing more than to sit at the garden fence watching the goings on within the neighbourhood, especially the cat mafia!  He has taken the baton from Charlie as Chief of the Neighbourhood Cat Watch.

Henry loves a good run off the lead and has the time of his life running around the fields.  He can run and run and run and run, he never seems to tire and he never strays too far from us, he always comes back on recall. ​​​
